Process for Departments Requiring Visa Services for Faculty, Other Employees and Visitors
Immigration Services for University Faculty, Other Employees and Visitors
The Office of the General Counsel currently coordinates the petitioning for H1B, O1, TN and other non-immigrant statuses required by international faculty and other employees for employment at the University of Notre Dame as well as for international visitors to the University. The International Student Services and Activities Office is responsible for processing all paperwork for J1 immigration status for employees and other visitors. This office also provides assistance with employment-based permanent residency petitions for certain employees of the University pursuant to University policy and upon approval of the employing department. The purpose of this site is to provide educational materials, immigration updates, and – most importantly – access to the tools and forms used by this office to assist the University with its immigration needs. This office also coordinates with the International Student Services and Activities Office on policy and regulatory interpretations for student and scholar immigration matters.
To initiate Immigration Services please complete and submit the Immigration Request Form to the Office of General Counsel. Upon determination of the appropriate immigration status, departments will be notified.
