Alisa F. Murphy is Assistant General Counsel at  the University of  Notre Dame.  She provides legal counsel and advice to the University regarding a variety of issues, including employment matters, compliance, contracts, and litigation.

Prior to joining the University in 2022, Ms. Murphy practiced law as an associate at the Chicago office of Jenner & Block.  In her private practice, she handled a wide array of matters involving complex contract disputes, antitrust claims, civil rights violations, government and internal investigations, criminal charges, and post-conviction claims.  Ms. Murphy also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Judge Sara L. Ellis and Judge John J. Tharp, both of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.  Prior to her legal career, Ms. Murphy served as a public affairs specialist for the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Murphy earned her J.D. from the Notre Dame Law School in 2015 and her B.A. from Notre Dame in 2007.
