Craig J. Sharpe, Business Support Legal Professional

Craig J. Sharpe is the Business Support Legal Professional for the Office of General Counsel. As a member of the office's RIPT (Research, Intellectual Property, Transactions) Team, Mr. Sharpe administers the University's Conflict of Interest program to over 3,500 faculty and staff members; oversees the renewal of University trademarks; alcoholic beverage licenses; and maintains state registrations and records for various corporate entities associated with the University.  As a Six Sigma Green Belt and Certified Project Manager, Mr. Sharpe is responsible for integrating and implementing technology and processes to maintain and enhance service to the more than 30 departments and 150 business units on campus.

Prior to joining Notre Dame, Mr. Sharpe managed process optimization projects in the technology and mortgage industries where he led efforts to streamline operations at Chase Manhattan Mortgage and assisted with multi-state business unit mergers at Washington Mutual.  He subsequently joined 1stSource Bank in South Bend, IN as Assistant Vice President of Operations and Systems Integration in their wholesale mortgage division.

Mr. Sharpe holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. While serving, Sharpe was involved in several high profile search and rescue missions including the explosive decompression of United Airlines Flight 811, the rescue of 28 crewmen aboard the Greek freighter Bulka and the collapse of the Claiborne Avenue bridge in New Orleans, LA.  He also received the Humanitarian Service Medal for disaster relief efforts during Hurricane Andrew and was awarded a Certificate of Merit by former Mayor Sidney Barthelemy of New Orleans for supervising wetlands reclamation projects in the bayous of southern Louisiana.

Mr. Sharpe lives in South Bend and stays active coaching varsity soccer at Christ the King school.
