Brian Guarraci

Brian Guarraci is Senior Associate General Counsel for the University of Notre Dame.  His primary practice areas include litigation and risk management, student affairs, campus safety and security, the Clery Act, and advising University departments on statutory, regulatory, and policy matters.

Prior to joining the University in 2014, Mr. Guarraci worked as Senior Counsel at POET, LLC, a privately owned renewable fuels company, where he was responsible for overseeing and managing all litigation, employment and labor matters.  In that role, Mr. Guarraci also advised Growth Energy, a trade association representing one-third of US ethanol production, and was responsible for defending and advancing its interests through oversight of its industry-impacting litigation and regulatory rule-making efforts.

Before joining POET, Mr. Guarraci practiced as an associate at the Chicago office of Sidley Austin LLP, where he counseled employers on employment and labor-related issues, and defended employers in labor arbitrations and in employment lawsuits in federal and state courts.

Mr. Guarraci is a 1999 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a B.A. in Psychology, with highest honors.  Mr. Guarraci received his juris doctor degree from Duke University School of Law in 2002.
